Purpose and Use of this Website

In accordance with Ohio law, the Ohio Attorney General's Office maintains the electronic sex offender registration network ("eSORN") registry. The registry contains information about currently published sex offenders and child victim offenders (collectively "Offenders") residing in the State of Ohio, as provided by the local sheriff's offices responsible for registering the offenders.

The information on this website has been made available to increase community safety and awareness of registered offenders living in Ohio's neighborhoods. Misuse of the information found on this site may subject the user of the site to criminal and civil penalties.

Using the eSORN Registry

You can search the registry several different ways. You can use a local address to search for nearby published Offenders. Once you enter a location, the registry will provide a list of all published, registered State of Ohio Offenders living within a one-mile radius of the entered location within the boundaries of the county. The registry can also be searched by Offender name or city. Additionally, you can view a list of all Offenders registered with a particular sheriff, or all Offenders that have registered in Ohio and have not complied with their registration duties.

A reverse search option is also available for known internet identifiers, email addresses, or phone numbers. This tool can be utilized to determine if the owner of an internet identifier, email address, or phone number is a published, registered Offender in the State of Ohio. If a match is found, you can contact the local sheriff's office for more information about the Offender. Please be advised that the search only queries published Offenders. Therefore, a result of "No offenders were found matching your search" does not provide a guarantee regarding any individual's potential registration requirement.

We also encourage you to take advantage of the free email notification option available on this website. When an Offender registers with the local county sheriff's office, you will automatically be alerted if the Offender's address is in the county and within one mile of the address you have entered on your subscription.

Offenders on the eSORN Registry

As noted above, only published Offenders are searchable in the eSORN registry. Individuals who committed a sexually oriented offense when they were juveniles are considered juvenile offenders. Under Ohio law, juvenile offender information is prohibited from inclusion on the registry. While juvenile offenders are still subject to all registration requirements, their information will not appear on this website or any of the available searches, even after they have turned 18 years of age. If you have any questions about a juvenile offender in your community, you should contact your local sheriff's office for more information.

Additionally, incarcerated Offenders are not published until they are released from their term of confinement. If an Offender is published at one time and then enters a correctional facility, his or her entry will not be displayed on the public website until they are released from incarceration. If you have questions about an Offender who is incarcerated, you should contact your local sheriff's office or the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.

Indemnification/Immunity from Civil Liability

By using the eSORN registry, user agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Ohio Attorney General's Office and any Ohio sheriff's office, as well as their elected officials, officers, agents, volunteers, and employees from and against all claims, damages, and expenses, including attorney's fees, arising out of the use of this site by user or user's account whether by negligence or otherwise.

Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code 2950.12, an officer or employee of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Ohio Attorney General and the employees of the Ohio Attorney General are immune from civil liability in an action to recover damages allegedly caused by an act or omission in connection with a duty under Chapter 2950 of the Ohio Revised Code.
